Accepting an Invite From 1Password

Request 1Password Service

Once your request is approved and you receive the invitation email, return to this article and follow the steps below to complete your 1Password setup.

Step 1: Receive Invitation

Check your inbox for an email titled “Join Northwestern (Tenant Name) on 1Password”.
Click Join now to begin onboarding.

 

 

Step 2: Log in with Microsoft

Sign in using your Northwestern credentials.
Complete Duo MFA as required.

 

 

 Step 3: Account Setup

Wait briefly while 1Password prepares your account
No action needed—setup completes automatically.

 

Step 4: Confirmation Email

You’ll receive a Welcome to 1Password message in your email.
Bookmark the URL link for quick access: northwestern-(school/unit).1password.com

 

Step 5: Access Your Account

Go to the URL and click “Sign in with Microsoft.” Once logged in, you’ll land on the 1Password dashboard. Click “View Vault Items” to access everything shared with you—including your personal Employee Vault and any Shared Vaults assigned to your team.

 

Add the 1Password Browser Extension

We recommend installing the 1Password browser extension to securely and conveniently manage your online logins. Follow our setup guide to get started. The extension allows you to autofill passwords, generate strong new ones, and safely store sensitive data like credit card numbers — all directly from your browser.
