Managed Windows Network Connection Issue

Affected service: Campus wired and wireless network access for some managed Windows computers

Some managed Windows computers may display a sign-in prompt or report a problem connecting to the campus Ethernet (wired) or wireless network. Users may be unable to sign in successfully and connect.

The prompt may look like this:

Cause

Some managed Windows computers are missing a certificate required for the campus network configuration.

Recommended action

  1. If you are on campus, connect your computer to an Ethernet (wired) port. A Group Policy update is required to install the missing certificate. The update should apply automatically; to expedite it, open Command Prompt, type “gpupdate /force,” and press Enter.

Command: gpupdate /force

If you see “No internet access”: Restart your computer to reset the Ethernet network adapter.

  1. After the Group Policy update is applied, restart your computer again if necessary, then try connecting to the campus network.

Need help?

If you still cannot connect after completing these steps, contact your local IT support team.

For remote users

If you have a managed Windows laptop and are off campus, connect to GlobalProtect VPN for several hours so the Group Policy update can be applied and help prevent this issue when you return to campus.
