Updating Exchange password in Outlook for Windows

After you change your NetID password, you might be unable to login to your Outlook desktop client. In Outlook 2016/2013 for Windows, you are unable to change Exchange account passwords. Instructions to change the password outside of the Outlook desktop client can be found below.

  1. Press the start button or Windows key, use the search bar and enter Windows Credential Manager
Note: If View by is set to Category, click User Accounts first, and then click Credential Manager.
  2. Locate the set of credentials that has Outlook in the name.
  3. Click the drop-down for Outlook, and then click edit.
  4. Update the password field to the new password, and click save
  5. If there is more than one account labeled with Outlook, use the Remove option from the drop-down menu in Windows Credential Manager on every other Outlook account listed.
  6. Try logging into Outlook again. When prompted for username and password, enter ads[NetID] as the username, and the new NetID password for the password field.
