Zoom AI Companion services are available to enhance the Zoom meeting experience by helping users capture key points, surface action items, and revisit the meeting content more efficiently.
Key Features
Meeting hosts who choose to enable these features now have access to three integrated tools:
- Meeting Summary – Automatically generates a concise summary after each meeting, which hosts can edit and share, including suggested next steps and action items.
- In-Meeting Questions – Allows participants to ask questions about ongoing discussions, recall key topics, and summarize the public in-meeting chat using preset or custom prompts.
- Smart Recordings – Enhances meeting recordings with chapters, highlights, key moments, and summaries for easier review.
Responsible Use
Before engaging with these tools, we encourage all users to review the Northwestern Guidance On the Use of Generative AI, which provides detailed information on what types of data are approved for use with AI. Please also keep in mind the following:
- Zoom AI Companion should not be used during meetings with sensitive information.
- It is approved only for Level 1 and 2 data (see the Data Classification Policy for a description of data levels).
- Level 3 data and higher (PHI, HIPAA, Business Sensitive Data) is prohibited in any use cases where AI Companion is prese.

Zoom Workplace 7.0 has been released and is now available for Mac and Windows. Those who upgrade to the latest Zoom release will see improvements in several areas, outlined below.
- Dynamic gallery supporting up to 49 participants.
- Browser Tab Sharing, instead of the whole browser.
- Refreshed mobile home tab, featuring a streamlined layout and quick shortcuts to start, join, or schedule meetings so users can get where they need to go faster.
- New Appearance settings section on mobile, with options to help users look their best.
- Improved clarity and control for captions and transcripts, with separated functionality providing hosts and admins clearer control over transcript activation and new streamlined transcript settings.
- Webinars – multiple screen shares can now support audio.
