Setting up Cisco Jabber for Android

Jabber simplifies communication and enhances productivity by unifying presence, instant messaging, video, voice messaging, desktop sharing, and conferencing capabilities into a secure easy-to-use app.

Use the instructions below to log in to Jabber on your Android device. If you want to use Jabber on a tablet, send an email message to servicedesk@northwestern.edu asking that your Jabber account be given tablet access.

If users experience issues logging in to Jabber, assign the issue to NUIT-TNS-VoiceNetwork.

Install Jabber

Download Cisco Jabber from Google Play.

Log in to Jabber

  1. When you open Jabber for the first time, you will see a blank prompt. You may also see this screen when the app is updated, or if you reset the Jabber app. Enter your full @northwestern.edu email address, then click Continue. If you have a @kellogg.northwestern.edu or @law.northwestern.edu email address, you need to enter netid@northwestern.edu instead.
  2. When prompted for a username and password, enter your NetID and NetID password, then click Login.
