If you have files stored in RDSS, you can access them in NUworkspace by mounting the drive. Mounting a drive makes it accessible via Windows File Explorer.
This short guide will show you step-by-step how to: Map a RDSS Drive on Windows
Map a RDSS Drive
Launch an App
Using your preferred web browser, navigate to the URL for your NUworkspace system, for example, “https://northwestern.apporto.com”, and log in to the system using your credentials.
Click the App Store icon in the Navigation panel.
The ‘App Store’ screen displays. You can select any of your research applications. For this example we’re using the ‘Windows Desktop’ sample
Click Launch
The ‘NUworkspace Desktop’ opens in a new browser tab.
Open the Cloud Mounter
Double-click on the Cloud Mounter desktop shortcut.
The ‘setup wizard’ launches.
For RDSS drives select Network Drive
The ‘Connection Dialog’ displays.
- If you are a member of Feinberg School of Medicine, the address is \\fsmresfiles.northwestern.edu\<SHARE-NAME>
- Replace <SHARE-NAME> with the name of the share you want to connect to
- If you are not in Feinberg, but have selected auditing capability, the address is \\resfilesaudit.northwestern.edu\<SHARE-NAME>
- Replace <SHARE-NAME> with the name of the share you want to connect to
- If you are not in Feinberg and have no auditing, the address is \\resfiles.northwestern.edu\<SHARE-NAME>
- Replace <SHARE-NAME> with the name of the share you want to connect to
Once connected, you will see the list of shares on the server. Select your share to copy (and write, if you have the appropriate privileges) files.
