Mobility Print simplifies the printing process for your own devices (BYOD (Bring Your Own Devices)) and other end-user managed devices, such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, or Chromebooks. It delivers secure network print services for iOS, Windows, macOS, Android, and Chrome. It allows both managed and unmanaged devices to securely print to an MFD (Multi-Functional Devices) device on your network.

Setting up Northwestern Print on Mobile Devices
You can send and release print jobs to Northwestern Print printers using your mobile device.
You will need to go through a one-time setup by following the steps below from your mobile device.

General Steps: Registering your mobile device
- To run the Mobility Print Printer Setup Wizard, you will need administrator rights on your device.
- Make sure your device is connected to the eduroam WiFi network.
- From your mobile device, click this link: https://print.northwestern.edu:9164/setup
- Instructions should appear to register your mobile device to Northwestern Print using Mobility Print. Queues will default to duplex printing, but both can be changed to allow single-sided printing when necessary.
- Once your phone has been registered, you can follow the steps below for Touchless Release.
Registering your iOS device
In a web browser on your iPhone, navigate to https://print.northwestern.edu:9164/client-setup/known-host/ios.html.
Click the “Download” button.
Click “Allow” to download the Northwestern Print Profile.
Click “Close”.
Go to your Settings app on your mobile device.
Click "Profile Downloaded"
Touch “Install”.
Enter your iPhone Passcode.
Touch “Install”.
Touch “Done”.
You will be directed to this screen, where you can review your PaperCut Mobility Print for iOS profile.
Printing from your iOS device
Navigate to the page on your iOS device and tap the “Print” icon.
Click “Print”.
Select your configuration settings and click “Printer”.
Select a printer queue based on your role or print need (for example, use the general print queues for a paid or volunteer appointment; use the StudentPay print queues for personal print jobs or student academic needs, including using print quotas). Two-sided, black and white printing (BW-Duplex) is strongly encouraged.
Go to an available Northwestern Print MFD and follow the instructions to release your print job.
Registering your Android device
In a web browser on your Android Phone, navigate to https://print.northwestern.edu:9164/client-setup/known-host/android.html. Or search for the “Mobility Print” by Papercut Software app in the Google Play Store.
Click the “Install or Update” button.
Touch “Install”.
Touch “Open”.
Touch “Allow” to enable notifications.
Touch “Tap here to check the Mobility Print Service is on”.
Verify the following settings.
Printing from your Android device
Navigate to the page on your Android device and tap the “Print” icon
Select a printer queue based on your role or print need (for example, use the general print queues for a paid or volunteer appointment; use the StudentPay print queues for personal print jobs or student academic needs, including using print quotas). Two-sided, black and white printing (BW-Duplex) is strongly encouraged.
Click the “Printer” icon.
Click “OK” to confirm you want to use Mobility Print.
Check your notifications to authenticate your print request.
Authenticate with your NetID and password and click “Sign In and Print”.
You can also check your notifications to determine if a print request is successful or has failed.
Go to an available Northwestern Print MFD and follow the instructions to release your print job.
Touchless Print Release using QR Code
Once your mobile device has been registered, you can use it to release print jobs.
- Send a print job to Northwestern Print.
- Open the camera on your mobile device.
- Point the camera at the QR Code on the Northwestern Print MFD.
- Click on the tab that appears at the top of your phone.
- Enter your NetID and Password.
- Select Login.
- Select the print jobs you would like to release.
- Select Release.
