Tableau 2023.3 has replaced the old OneDrive connector with the new OneDrive and SharePoint Online API. In order to keep using OneDrive with workbooks created in previous versions of Tableau, you will need to replace the data source using the new OneDrive and SharePoint Online connector and republish the workbooks (Parts 2 and 3 below). All users who wish to connect to OneDrive or SharePoint data sources must first complete Part 1 below.
Part 1: Add OneDrive and SharePoint Online API in Tableau Server
1. Add the OneDrive and SharePoint Online API by signing in to Tableau Server, clicking on profile and My Account Settings in the top right corner. Click Add next to OneDrive and SharePoint Online then sign into your Microsoft account.
Here is a GIF demonstrating the steps above. You can click on it to open a video in a new tab.
Part 2: Replacing the OneDrive Data Source
1. Download Tableau Desktop 2023.1 (NOTE: This is not the latest version of Desktop, but it is ideal for updating your existing OneDrive-related workbooks).
2. Open the workbook that is connected to the old OneDrive connector. You will notice it says OneDrive (depreciated) under Connections.
3. Go to a worksheet tab. Click on the New Data Source icon or click Data > New Data Source to add the new OneDrive and SharePoint Online data source. It will then prompt you to log into your Microsoft account.
4. Double click on the same data source file you were connected to before in OneDrive. You will then see two data sources in the worksheet.
5. Right click on the old OneDrive data source and select Replace Data Source… to replace it with the new OneDrive data source. Then right click on the old data source and select Close to delete the data source. See the following GIF below or scroll down to see the full video.
6. Make sure it is pointing to the new OneDrive & SharePoint Online by going to the Data Source tab. Also check if it is still a Live connection if that’s what it was set to before.

Part 3: Uploading the Workbook
1. Save and republish the workbook to Tableau Server. Make sure to embed your credentials by selecting Edit under data sources and select your email. Note: If the email doesn’t show up then you will need to delete and add your credentials again in Tableau Server under your profile My Account Settings > Outlook and SharePoint Online.
2. Make sure you can open the workbook on the server without getting any errors.
