Teams Premium offers licensed users Northwestern branded meeting themes and backgrounds. Please refer to the following Microsoft support guide for more information.
Themes
Branded themes are visible on Teams meeting pre-join (shown below in dark and light mode versions), lobby screens and meeting controls.
Note- themes will not be visible for meeting participants that have enabled high contrast displays.
Formal Backgrounds
On the meeting join screen toggle the video feed and select 'Background filters'. Users will see a pop-out to the right of the meeting join window with the Northwestern branded backgrounds near the top of the Background settings pane (only visible for users with a Teams Premium license).
Backgrounds can also be enabled after you join the Teams meeting by selecting the ellipses (More) and choosing Video effects and settings.
The formal backgrounds are offered in 3 color options: purple, light purple and light/grey scale. In addition to the Academic N or Northwestern on geometric facets, users also have the option to choose from 2 wordmark options (shown below).
If you require school or department specific branding, please reach out to the Northwestern IT Service Desk and open a ticket with the collaboration services team.
Mirrored Background Images
It's important to note that these images are flipped by default in the horizontal when viewing them in preview mode and after you apply and turn on your video feed. Please keep in mind that the other attendees see the image reversed as intended.
Users can control their video background behavior by toggling the 'Mirror my video' option to off under the Settings tab. This only affects what you see on your video feed; not what the attendees see.
