How to use multiple monitors in macOS

​​​​​The following steps will help configure multiple monitors on your macOS device.

  1. Connect your laptop to the external monitor via a display cable, hub/adapter, or docking station.
  2. A prompt may appear on your computer to allow the device, select Allow.
  3. Go to the Apple menu > System Settings, find and select Displays.
  4. Select the Arrange button.
  5. Each monitor including the laptop screen will appear as a window. To understand which window correspond to the monitor select a window and then a red border will appear around the screen.
  6. Once you have an understanding of the windows, rearrange the screens by dragging the windows.
  7. To change your primary display, drag the white toolbar to the monitor screen you prefer to be your primary.
