TDX Asset Management – Computer Out for Repair

This article provides a high-level process to follow when a computer is out for repair and needing to update the relevant asset within the TDX Asset Management Module

Abstract: This article is intended to provide process guidance for when a computer is being pulled from circulation for the purpose of a needed repair and actions relevant to the Asset Management system.

Consideration Action
Determine if extended warranty is still active This can be verified using the vendor specific warranty check online
Is service required? Open a support case with the relevant manufacturer to schedule onsite or depot repair
Update the TDX Asset status for this computer      

Login to services.northwestern.edu

Navigate to TDXNext, select the "waffle", and choose Endpoint Assets

Select Assets in the left side pane and search for the computer by host name or serial number

Edit the record, scroll down to the Status field and change the status to "Out for Repair", update other fields that may be missing or inaccurate such as Product Model, Owning Acct/Dept, Owner, etc., and click Save
