Recording with the Scarlet 2i2 USB Audio Interface

Body

  • Connect the Scarlet 2i2 USB audio interface to computer with the USB cable. Both a USB-C and USB A-to-C cable are included.
  • Set the Scarlet 2i2 as the input device from your computer's audio settings panel.
  • Connect one or both microphones. Use the included XLR cable for longer cable length if needed.

  • Download and launch Audacity.
  • Select the Scarlet 2i2 as the input device. Set number of channels to mono for a single channel recording or stereo if you are using both microphones.
  • Click the microphone icon button

 

  • Select "Start Monitoring".

  • Adjust the microphone volume with the front facing dials on the Scarlet 2i2.

  • Click the record button in Audacity to start recording and the stop button to end.
  • Select File->Export->Export as WAV to save your recording.
  • Additional instructions for Windows or Mac computers.
