Graduate Student Progress - Quick Guide for Faculty: Academic Progress

This guide assists Graduate Faculty with accessing, reviewing, and entering a student’s Academic Progress information, as applicable to their program. Adviser and committee member reviews are optional. Faculty will receive an initial email notification when a student submits Academic Progress for review, but no Action Items task will be generated.

Once an email notification has been received stating a student as submitted their Academic Progress:

  1. Log into the Graduate Student Progress (GSP) system at https://gsp.northwestern.edu/

  2. You will see a list of students assigned to you as their adviser or as a committee member. Click on the student name to access their GSP record.

  3. From the menu choose Academic Progress. Review the information entered by the student.
NOTE: on the student's academic progress page, be sure the correct academic progress year is selected and displayed.

  4. Enter an Adviser Evaluation Score, add comments in the Adviser or Committee section to the right of the student information, and then finalize.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
After an adviser and/or committee member submits their review, Academic Progress is routed to the program administrator for final review. Once that review is submitted, Academic Progress is closed for the student’s term.
