If you receive the error "The SCEP server returned an invalid response" while installing the Northwestern eduroam configuration profile on an iPhone or iPad, follow the steps below.
Prerequisites
- Ensure the device is connected to cellular data during enrollment.
- Do not use eduroam or another Northwestern Wi-Fi network while completing these steps.
Step 1: Remove Existing Northwestern Profiles and Certificates
- Open Settings.
- Navigate to General → VPN & Device Management.
- Remove any existing Northwestern-related profiles, including:
- Previous Northwestern profiles
- Old SecureW2 profiles
- Existing eduroam certificates
Step 2: Clear Safari Session Data
- Close all open Safari tabs.
- Open Settings → Safari.
