Overview
Some Windows users may experience intermittent GlobalProtect VPN disconnects and reconnects, particularly during applications that maintain continuous network connections, such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
Disabling IPv6 on the GlobalProtect virtual network adapter may resolve the issue.
Resolution
Follow these steps to disable IPv6 for the GlobalProtect adapter:
- Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog.
- Enter
ncpa.cpl and select OK or press Enter.
- Locate PANGP Virtual Ethernet Adapter in the Network Connections window.
- Right-click PANGP Virtual Ethernet Adapter and select Properties.
- Locate Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).
- Clear the checkbox next to Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6).
- Select OK to save the change.
- Reconnect to GlobalProtect VPN and confirm that the connection remains stable.
Important
This setting applies only to the GlobalProtect virtual network adapter. Do not disable IPv6 on your Wi-Fi or Ethernet adapter.
The IPv6 setting may be reset when GlobalProtect is upgraded or reinstalled. If the intermittent disconnects return after a GlobalProtect update, repeat the steps above.
