Connecting to eduroam for Android - Certificate

NOTE: Only Chrome is supported for Android for the setup and installation of SecureW2 JoinNow for eduroam. Other browsers may be incompatible with the JoinNow process. If you use another browser, you must set your system’s default browser to one of the supported browsers before running the JoinNow software. You may set your default browser back once the SecureW2 JoinNow installation has been completed.
  1. Make sure you have set up Duo multi-factor Authentication prior to completing the below steps.
  2. Choose which method you would like to start with depending on if you are on campus and whether or not you actively have an internet connection.

    A. On or Off Campus with Internet Connection
If your device is currently connected to the Internet, click this link eduroam-setup and you will be re-directed to SecureW2 JoinNow portal to have your device configured to connect to eduroam. This option will work even if you are not on the Northwestern University campus but still have internet connection.

Click here to get started from your device

    B. On Campus with No Active Internet Connection
If you are not yet connected to the Internet and are on campus you can connect to the "eduroam-setup" Network/SSID. Once connected, you will automatically be re-directed to www.northwestern.edu/network. Click the Continue Onboarding button to start the process.

  3. Tap Download to be directed to the Google Play Store for the SecureW2 JoinNow app.

  4. Tap Install to install the SecureW2 JoinNow application.

  5. Open the JoinNow app once it finishes installing.
  6. You will be directed to the Microsoft Sign In page where you can enter your Northwestern email address.
  7. You will be redirected to the Northwestern WebSSO page where you can enter your NetID and NetID password. Click Sign in. If prompted if you'd like to stay signed in, you can click the Yes button.
If installing on someone else's device, have that person log in to WebSSO using their own NetID.  Never use your NetID to login for another person.

  8. Complete the login process by authenticating through Duo verified push.
  9. To finish the enrollment process, tap Continue.
  10. If the site prompts you to continue in the JoinNow app, tap Continue.

  11. The JoinNow app will attempt to install the full configuration for eduroam to your phone. Per the screenshot below, tap Save or Allow depending on the pop-up:
  12. Your device should now be configured for eduroam. Tap Go to Wi-Fi Settings to confirm your connection, or to attempt to connect if it does not automatically connect for you.
  13. You may now choose to uninstall the SecureW2 JoinNow app from your device.
