NOTE: Only Safari, Firefox and Chrome are supported for the setup and installation of SecureW2 JoinNow for eduroam. Other browsers may be incompatible with the JoinNow process. If you use another browser, you must set your system’s default browser to one of the supported browsers before running the JoinNow software. You may set your default browser back once the SecureW2 JoinNow installation has been completed.
- Make sure you have set up Duo multi-factor Authentication prior to completing the below steps.
-
Choose which method you would like to start with depending on if you are on campus and whether or not you actively have an internet connection.
A. On or Off Campus with Internet Connection
If your device is currently connected to the Internet, click this link eduroam-setup and you will be re-directed to SecureW2 JoinNow portal to have your device configured to connect to eduroam. This option will work even if you are not on the Northwestern University campus but still have internet connection.

B. On Campus with No Active Internet Connection
If you are not yet connected to the Internet and are on campus you can connect to the "eduroam-setup" Network/SSID. Once connected, you will automatically be re-directed to www.northwestern.edu/network. Click the Continue Onboarding button to start the process.

- Click the JoinNow button.

- The Northwestern_Network_Installer.dmg file will begin to download. When complete, navigate to your computer's Downloads folder, double-click the downloaded file to begin installation.
- Double-click the Northwestern_Network_Installer application.

- Your computer will ask for permission to run the JoinNow application. Click the Open button.

- SecureW2 JoinNow will run. Click the Next button.

- Sign into the Microsoft portal using your Northwestern email address.

- You will be redirected to the Northwestern WebSSO page where you can enter your NetID and NetID password. Click Sign in. If prompted if you'd like to stay signed in, you can click the Yes button.
If installing on someone else's machine, have that person log in to WebSSO using their own NetID. Never use your NetID to login for another person.

- Complete the login process by authenticating through Duo verified push.

- You will see an Authentication successful message when complete. You can close the browser window after you see this message.

- SecureW2 JoinNow will ask you to enter the username and password that you use to log into your computer. Enter that information and click the OK button.

- SecureW2 JoinNow will notify you that a profile will be installed. Click the Next button.

- A notification will pop up on your screen and the System Preferences app will open to the Profiles page. You must double-click the downloaded "Northwestern eduroam" profile that is listed in the Profiles window.

- In the Are you sure you want to install this profile? pop-up window, click the Install... button in the lower-left corner of this window.

- In the Are you sure you want to install profile "Northwestern University eduroam"? pop-up window, click the Install button.

- In the Profiles/MDM pop-up window, enter your computer's password and click the OK button.

- The Northwestern eduroam profile will now appear as installed as a User profile.
If you are in range of the eduroam network, you will then get a popup from eapolclient. This is the software that connects to secure networks such as eduroam. In the eapolclient wants to access key "SecureW2 JoinNow Any Access" in your keychain pop-up window, enter your computer's password and click the Always Allow button.
If you do not click Always Allow, you will be prompted for your password every time you connect to eduroam until you click Always Allow.

If you are not in range of the eduroam network, you will get prompted for your password by eapolclient the next time you connect to eduroam.
- The SecureW2 JoinNow application will show the progress bar as JOINED and the process is complete. Click the Done button.

- You may now close the System Preferences / Profiles window and eject and delete the WiFi_Northwestern_JoinNow.dmg disk image file from your computer.
