Northwestern Print: Mobility Print on macOS: Enable Advanced Print Functionality of Hole Punch and Stapling

Body

Overview

The default macOS generic PostScript driver provides limited functionality. To access features like hole punch, stapling, and other device-specific options, install the Ricoh PostScript driver and configure the Mobility Print queues accordingly.

Before proceeding, ensure Mobility Print is installed. Please follow the directions in this knowledge base article.

Please be aware that the Ricoh driver may display options that are not supported by your printer. Using advanced print settings that your printer does not support can lead to unexpected results. For instance, if you choose a hole punch or stapling option that is unavailable, your document will still be printed, but without those features. Selecting a paper try or paper size not available on the destination printer will likely lead to your document not printing.

Notes:

  • Some driver options may not be supported by your specific printer model. Unsupported features (e.g., stapling or hole punch) will be ignored during printing.
  • Selecting unavailable paper trays or sizes may prevent printing.
  • If you experience issues with a different Ricoh model, check the CUPS interface (http://localhost:631) to verify the installed driver. If necessary, download the correct model-specific driver from Ricoh’s website.
