Accessing ITSS 1Password
Access the ITSS 1Password tenant through: https://northwestern-itss.1password.com/
Requesting 1Password Vaults
To request the creation of a 1Password vault, use the Password Management request form.
In the form select Request Shared Vault and fill in the required fields. Your request will be advanced to your local Tenant admin based on the 1Password Tenant Name/Department you select.
When requesting a new 1Password vault, a group will be created to populate users who should have access to the vault with a standard set of permissions. If you are aware of an existing group who should be granted access to your vault you may include this in the request description.
The NetID(s) listed as the Vault Manager(s) will be granted manager access on the group and Full Access rights on the vault. Vault Managers will have the ability to manage membership of the Vault and to set permissions for groups or individuals granted access to the vault.
Adding New Team Members
Access to the ITSS 1Password tenant is controlled through NUValidate. As the director or manager, please perform the following steps to have a new employee gain access to your shared password vaults:
- Request a 1Password Account:
- Select Request 1Password Business Account in the Password Management Request form.
- Select NUIT-ITSS from the 1Password Tenant Name/Department drop down field.
- Once your new team member is in the ITSS 1Password tenant, you can add them to your team's vault by adding by adding them to your 1Password Group.
Removing Team Members
Since access to 1Password is controlled through NUValidate, employees will automatically be removed once the employee leaves the institution.
If your employee is moving to another team/unit within Northwestern, please reach out to the Service Desk before they leave so that we can ensure continuity and migration of their employee vault.
Managing 1Password Vaults
Vault Managers should reference 1Password’s documentation for managing their Groups and Vaults:
NOTE: Vault Managers are also able to add individuals from the Tenant to their vault. It is recommended that individuals only be added directly to the vault as either Back-up Managers, or in situations where it is necessary for a collaborator to have permissions that differ from the primary membership group.
