OneDrive: Reviewing your sharing of files

The Shared view in OneDrive shows all your files and folders that aren't private. After you share a file, it automatically appears under Shared in the navigation.

 

 Reviewing your shared files within OneDrive

  1. Click on "Shared" from the left menu on onedrive.northwestern.edu
  2. Click on "Shared by you" from the top menu
  3. Click on the file or folder to review, then click the three vertical dots, then click "Manage Access"
  4. Review access under "Links Giving Access" and "Direct Access"

Requesting a report on file and folder sharing in OneDrive

  1. Open OneDrive Online
  2. On the Settings menu, click OneDrive settings
  3. Click More settings, and then click Run sharing report
  4. Choose a location to save the report, and then click Save
  5. Click Run sharing report again, please click "You may see the results of this query here" link

The report may take some time to run depending on the size of the site.

When the report is finished running you will receive an email with a link to the report.

For items shared with direct access, the report contains one row for each user / item combination. 

For items shared with a link, the report contains a row for each signed-in user who has used the link or has been sent the link through the sharing dialog. Links emailed directly that haven't been clicked, and Anyone links are not included in the report.
