By default, new listservs have an Unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email. If you would like to remove the unsubscribe link from your email templates, or if you would like to re-add the unsubscribe link, please follow the steps below. Please keep in mind that subscribers can always login to the Listserv Web Interface or send an unsubscribe command to the LISTSERV (see the See Also links below).
Adding an unsubscribe link
- Log in to the Northwestern Listserv Web Interface at https://listserv.it.northwestern.edu .
- On the top menu bar, click List Management, then List Dashboard.
- Under Select List, choose the list you want to manage
- From the horizontal navigation menu, select List Management > Customization > Mail Templates.
- From the Select Template Category: drop-down menu, select Top and Bottom Banners. If the page does not automatically refresh, click the Select button.
- From the Select Template: drop-down menu, select Bottom banner for plain text postings [BOTTOM_BANNER] and click the Edit Template button.
- Copy and paste the below text, labelled "text to add to template", into the template box. Copy and paste from the ### line through and including the .EB line. Then, click Update.
- From the Select Template: drop-down menu, select Bottom banner for HTML postings [BOTTOM_BANNER_HTML] and click the Edit Template button.
- Copy and paste the below text, labelled "text to add to template", into the template box. Copy and paste from the ### line through and including the .EB line. Then, click Update.
Once these changes have been made, all further correspondence will include the unsubscribe link.

Removing the unsubscribe link

- Once you have finished making changes to the template, click on the Update button at the bottom right.
- From the Select Template: drop-down menu, select Bottom banner for HTML postings [BOTTOM_BANNER_HTML] and click the Edit Template button.
- Once you have finished making changes to the template, click on the Update button at the bottom right.
