GlobalProtect VPN for Android

If you already have the GlobalProtect app configured on your device, skip the set-up instructions and go directly to the Connect to GlobalProtect section.

Supported Android Versions:
  • v5.0 and later

Set up GlobalProtect

  1. Download the GlobalProtect app from the Google Play Store
  2. Open the GlobalProtect app
    Note: You may be prompted to grant GlobalProtect VPN additional device permissions in order for the app to function properly.
  3. When prompted to allow GlobalProtect to set up a VPN connection, tap OK
  4. Enter vpn-connect.northwestern.edu in the Portal field, then tap the Connect button
  5. You'll be directed you to enter your NetID and NetID password. Follow the steps to verify with with Duo multi-factor authentication.
  6. Once complete, you'll be connected to the GlobalProtect VPN network on your device.

Connect to GlobalProtect VPN

  1. Open the GlobalProtect app and tap the shield button to connect.
  2. Your default web-browser will open and direct you to enter your NetID and NetID password. Follow the steps to verify with Duo multi-factor authentication. Once complete you will see an Authentication Complete window in your browser and you'll be directed back into the GlobalProtect app.  You are now connected to GlobalProtect

Disconnect from GlobalProtect

  1. To disconnect, open the GlobalProtect app and tap the shield button.
