Sitemaps are machine-readable listings of all public content in a website. Sitemaps help inform search engines of new pages on a site, and improve the site’s crawlability.
The Sitemap plugin handles generation and updating of a sitemap automatically, and use of this plugin is highly recommended for all public-facing websites. This plugin requires no configuration – it simply needs to be activated to take effect.
Activate the Sitemap Plugin
- Click the Plugins menu item in the left-hand dashboard menu.
- Use the search box in the top right corner to search for Sitemap
- Click the Activate button for the sitemap plugin.
- The plugin will now automatically handle sitemap generation and updating. An invisible link to the sitemap will be provided within the metadata for the site.
