Northwestern Print: Alternative Printing Options: Mobile and Web-Based

There are multiple ways to send print jobs to the Northwestern Print MFDs, besides using your computer.

  • Printing from the Northwestern Print WebPortal (PaperCut MF Print Management Software)
  • Mobile Printing (Mobility Print)

 

Northwestern Print WebPortal

Go to the Web Portal at https://print.northwestern.edu . If logging in from off campus, ensure you are on the Northwestern VPN.

Enter your NetID and Password and click Log in.

Select Web Print on the left side of the screen.

Select Submit a Job

Select a printer queue based on your role or print need (for example, use the general print queues for a paid or volunteer appointment; use the StudentPay print queues for personal print jobs or student academic needs, including using print quotas). Two-sided, black and white printing (BW-Duplex) is strongly encouraged. NOTE: You will not be able to change from Duplex to simplex or black and white to Color at the device

Select Print Options and Account Selection

Select the number of copies. Click on Upload Documents.

Drag and drop a file or click on Upload from Computer.

Navigate to your file folder. Select your document. Click Open.

Once you’ve selected your file, click Upload & Complete.

Your file has been sent to the print queue. You will not be able to change from Duplex to Simplex or Black and White to Color at the device.

Registering Your Mobile Device with Northwestern Print

You will need to go through a one-time setup on your mobile device to send print jobs to and release print jobs from Northwestern Print. 

  1. iOS users click here: https://print.northwestern.edu:9164/client-setup/known-host/ios.html
  2. Android users click here: https://print.northwestern.edu:9164/client-setup/known-host/android.html

General Steps: Registering your mobile device

  1. To run the Mobility Print Printer Setup Wizard, you will need administrator rights on your device. 
  2. Make sure your device is connected to the eduroam WiFi network.
  3. From your mobile device, click this link: https://print.northwestern.edu:9164/setup
  4. Instructions should appear to register your mobile device to Northwestern Print using Mobility Print.  Queues will default to duplex printing, but both can be changed to allow single-sided printing when necessary.

Registering your iOS device

In a web browser on your iPhone, navigate to https://print.northwestern.edu:9164/client-setup/known-host/ios.html.

Go to your Settings app on your mobile device.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

You will be directed to this screen where you can review your PaperCut Mobility Print for iOS profile.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

 

Printing from your iOS device

Navigate to the page on your iOS device and tap the "Print" icon.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

Select your configuration settings and click "Printer".Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

Select a printer queue based on your role or print need (for example, use the general print queues for a paid or volunteer appointment; use the StudentPay print queues for personal print jobs or student academic needs, including using print quotas). Two-sided, black and white printing (BW-Duplex) is strongly encouraged.

Go to an available Northwestern Print MFD and follow the instructions to release your print job.

Registering your Android device

In a web browser on your Android Phone, navigate to https://print.northwestern.edu:9164/client-setup/known-host/android.html.  Or search for the “Mobility Print” by Papercut Software app in the Google Play Store.

Printing from your Android device

Click "OK" to confirm you want to use Mobility Print.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

Check your notifications to authenticate your print request.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

Autenticate with your NetID and password and click "Sign In and Print".Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

You can also check your notifications to determine if a print request is successful or has failed.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

Go to an available Northwestern Print MFD and follow the instructions to release your print job.
