Connecting to eduroam on Android

You should be able to connect automatically to the eduroam Wireless Network with YourNetID@northwestern.edu (i.e., if your NetID is abc123, then you would enter abc123@northwestern.edu) as the username and your NetID password as the password through your Network Preferences. If you were not prompted to connect, you can manually configure your connection.

1. From your home screen, drag the top of the screen down and select the Settings gear icon.
2. From the Wireless and Networks subsection select Wi-Fi or Wireless Networks. Select eduroam from the list of wireless networks.
3. You may be prompted for a credential storage password. This is not your NetID password, but your Android password. If you haven't set it up already, you may be prompted to do so at this point.
4. Make the following selections:
   • EAP type: PEAP
   • Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPv2
   • CA CertificateUse system certificates (must install cert linked below)
     • Some version of Android will list (Unspecified)
     • Andriod 7 (and higher) devices may require an entry for Domain: northwestern.edu
   • Domain   Northwestern.edu
   • Identity/Username: Your NetID@northwestern.edu (i.e., if your NetID is abc123, then you would enter abc123@northwestern.edu)
   • Anonymous Identity: leave blank (if it says anonymous in the field delete "anonymous" so the field is blank)
   • Wireless Password: NetID password
   • Select Connect.
5. To install the certificate if needed, download the file from the Attachments on the right.
6. Choose Install Certificates (may also say Install Network Certificates).
   • Select nu-eduroam.cer.
   • Name the cert eduroam and choose WiFi as the type. Return to wireless settings.
7. Under CA Certificate, select the eduroam certificate that was just installed.
