Reporting and Analytics uses CATracks to provide reports on the data it holds, to build self-service reports for staff, and to execute analytics projects. Service requests include ad hoc programming requests and questions that require statistical data analysis or predictive modeling.
General Reporting
This service should be selected when entities in the report will not be contacted for a mass communication, and the request includes pulling data for a specific scenario in which the request cannot be satisfied from a CATracks canned report, an existing report within Tableau or BI, or by building a new query or report in BI.
Ex: I would like a report of all parents of current undergraduate students that have a UOR of $100K or more and have given at least $5K cumulatively in the past two fiscal years.
Mailing, Email, and Phone Lists
This service should be selected when entities will be contacted, via postal mail, email (through Encompass), or by telephone. The output will reflect entities that meet the criteria and can be contacted for the specific type of outreach.
Ex: I would like a list of all alumni living in the Chicago Tier 1 geocode to send an invitation to an event.
Tableau or BI Report Requests
This service is for updating or creating new Tableau or Cognos BI reports, dashboards, or data sources.
Mass CATracks Updates (Data Loader)
Select this service if you need to mass add, modify, or delete data in CATracks. Please see our list of
data loader templates and our data loader guide for help in formatting and submitting the data correctly. Please note, the Reporting & Analytics (R&A) team will only handle Mass CATracks Update requests where there are 100 or more records on the file. If you have less than 100 records, please make use of the mass add, mass modify (SSR only), and the VCR functions to make data entry faster. Data Matching (‘Fuzzy Matching’) and Comparing
Matching: If you have a list of data points, such as names, email addresses, and mailing addresses, R&A can attempt to match the data points in CATracks and return a CATracks ID number.
Comparing: If you have a list of known entities (i.e. the CATracks ID is present) with associated data points like email addresses, mailing addresses, etc. R&A can compare those data points to data that exists in CATracks and tell you if any of the data points are new data.
Access Requests
Select this service if you need to gain access or request additional permissions to Tableau or Cognos BI.
General Questions or Concerns
Select this service if you do not require a report but have questions about existing reports or general questions for the R&A team.
