Qualtrics - Embed HTML Videos Feature

Tags qualtrics

Uploading videos to the surveys questions is not part of our license and we do not have plans to upgrade our license to include this feature at the moment.

In the meantime, here is a work around via Sharepoint. You will need:

  1. If you do not already have a Sharepoint Site, you will need to request for a Sharepoint Site by filling out this form request https://services.northwestern.edu/TDClient/30/Portal/Requests/ServiceDet?ID=31 with 'Sharing Permission - External Sharing' enabled
  2. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)Once the site created, you can upload the videos into SharePoint site.
  3. Double click on the video file.
  4. On the top right corner, click 'Share' and then click the "Embed Code" option.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  5. Choose the player size and if you want the video to autoplay, responsive and show title.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  6. Then, copy the <iframe ... > text
  7. Once you have it copied, open up your Qualtrics project and click on the question text. Switch to "HTML View" and paste it in to the box. If you want to type text before and after, you can do that after, but as suggestion it is better to type it unless you know HTML.
  8. After pasting the iframe text, switch to "Rich Content Editor." You will see the video embedded (in Rich Text mode it just says IFRAME). Then you can add text before and after the video and format (adding bold, italics, etc) as necessary.
