NetID services take information from the HR or student system and create unified Northwestern credentials (NetIDs) that are then connected with information about each individual. NetIDs are then used as the primary way for people to interact with IT services. Other types of NetIDs can be requested for specific people, organizations, or IT purposes.

NUValidate
NUValidate, the University's identity management system, allows for convenient management of University NetIDs and NetID passwords. University students, faculty, and staff have self-service access to NU Validate to manage the following:
- Change and reset NetID passwords
- Establish and update NetID security questions
- Check NetID status
- Remove NetID services
- Edit Online Directory information
