Most Windows computers run 64-bit software and will use the default GlobalProtect VPN client (see 62248). If your Windows system requires 32-bit software, you will need to manually uninstall the default 64-bit version of GlobalProtect and install the 32-bit version.
Uninstall the 64-bit version
- Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program
- Find GlobalProtect and click Uninstall
Download and set up the 32-bit version
- In your web browser, go to https://vpn-connect.northwestern.edu.
- When prompted, enter your NetID and password, and authenticate through Duo.
- At the top of the screen, click GlobalProtect Agent.
- Click Download Windows 32 bit GlobalProtect Agent.
- Open the downloaded GlobalProtect application. When prompted for a portal address, enter vpn-connect.northwestern.edu.
- When prompted, enter your NetID and NetID password, then confirm your identity with Duo multi-factor authentication. You will then be connected to GlobalProtect.
Connect to GlobalProtect VPN
- Click the GlobalProtect icon in the system tray, then click Connect. If nothing seems to happen when you click Connect, see 99180.
- When prompted, enter your NetID and NetID password, then confirm your identity with Duo multi-factor authentication. You will then be connected to GlobalProtect.
- To disconnect, click the GlobalProtect icon again, then click Disconnect.
