Microsoft Yammer

Yammer is an internal social networking tool for faculty, staff, and students which offers a host of social networking features to make it easy to communicate and collaborate from anywhere with just about anyone at the University. It is one of the Microsoft 365 applications offered at Northwestern.

Using just a NetID, Yammer provides a quick view across campus so faculty, staff, and students can share knowledge easily and regularly. Groups allow you to find the most relevant information based on shared interests and interactions, and email notifications can come straight to your Collaboration Services inbox to organize all the @mentions, announcements, conversations, and private messages relevant to you on Yammer.

Yammer includes the ability to reply to posts, tag colleagues in conversations, share files, create polls, create and search for topic tags, and much more. Yammer also integrates with SharePoint and other Microsoft 365 applications.

How to Request Service

  1. Go to https://office365.northwestern.edu. You will then be directed to the Northwestern Online Passport page for authentication.
  2. Log in with your NetID and password.
  3. Click on Yammer in your list of Apps.
