Using the 'Run As' method in Cognos Analytics is a quick and easy way to run a Cognos Report to a non-default format.
Using the 'Run As' can be also used to quickly run to multiple formats and save the output to Cognos Server or can be also used to email the content.
Steps are listed below with screenshots.
Log in to Cognos Analytics at http://reporting.northwestern.edu.
Temporarily changing the default format of a report
- Navigate to the report and to the right of the report, Click the ellipsis (. . .) to bring up the More menu.
- Choose the Run as menu.
- Leave the default selection of Run in the background option in the off position.
- Choose the Format you wish to run the report to.
- Click on the Run Button.
Note: If the report has prompts, you will presented with the Prompt screen
Change format and Save Report Outputs to Cognos Server
- Navigate to the report and to the right of the report, Click the ellipsis (. . .) to bring up the More menu.
- Choose the Run as menu.
- Turn on the default selection of Run in the background option in the On position.
- Choose the Format(s) you wish to run the report to.
- The Delivery section allows you to save the report's output(s) to the server.
- If you wish to save to server, leave the default selection of Save check box on.
- Click on the Run Button.
Note: If the report has prompts, you will presented with the Prompt screen
Change format and Email Report Outputs
- Navigate to the report and to the right of the report, Click the ellipsis (. . .) to bring up the More menu.
- Choose the Run as menu.
- Turn on the default selection of Run in the background option in the On position.
- Choose the Format(s) you wish to run the report to.
- The Delivery section allows you to save the report's output(s) to the server.
- If you wish to save to server, leave the default selection of Save check box on.
- If you wish to get an email or email to your colleagues, choose the Send report by email check box on.
- Click on the edit details to get email specific options for setting up the email.
- Fill in the email address you wish to email the output.
- Disable the Include Link option.
- Enable the Attach Report Output option.
- Click on the Send Report By Email back button if you wish to make additional changes in the previous screen else proceed to next step.
- Click on the Run Button.
