Building
How do I report a problem to Facilities?
To report an urgent Facilities issue (for example, a water leak or health / safety issue), please call Facilities at (847) 491-5201. Please also send an email to 1800ShermanAdmin@northwestern.edu notifying our administrative staff that the issue has been reported. 1800 Sherman Admins will handle coordination with Facilities and ensure the 1800 Sherman Building Manager is alerted to the issue.
Please report non-urgent issues to 1800ShermanAdmin@northwestern.edu. The 1800 Sherman Admins will submit requests to Facilities as needed and notify the 1800 Sherman Building Manager.
Where are floor plans for first and second floors?
Floor plans are available to review. View the first floor and second floor plans.

I left something behind. Where is the lost and found?
A lost and found container is located in the Business Resource Center on the second floor. All lost and found items should be placed there. If you find a valuable item, such as a purse, wallet, or phone, please give it to an Administration and Finance team member or your director.
Magnetic nameplates which are left behind at the end of the day may be placed in the nameplate Lost and Found spots on each floor. On the first floor, nameplates will be on the right side of Locker 189. On the second floor, nameplates will be on the left side of Locker 281.
What is the cleaning schedule for Northwestern IT spaces?
Per the Facilities website, custodial cleaning services are provided in accordance with a tiered cleaning schedule. Review the various tiers and key terms.
Where is my paper mail?
All paper mail is available in the Business Resource Center on the first floor. Mail slots are primarily grouped by team.
What amenities are available in 1800 Sherman?
There are lactation rooms on the third and eighth floors. Learn more
There are two wellness rooms on the first floor.
Bike racks are provided outside.
Furniture
Are keyboard trays available?
Keyboard trays are available at select desks: 2-228H, 2-255B, and 2-280N. A keyboard tray is also available on office 2-260.
I had an ergonomic chair purchased for me. Where is it?
Chairs purchased for a specific staff member are located on the second floor in space 2-254.
Hot-Desking
Are there hot-desking spaces in other buildings?
In addition to 1800 Sherman, staff can hot-desk at 2020 Ridge. Three workspaces are available on the fourth floor, and nine workspaces and one office are on the third floor.
Standard, expected equipment is missing from an office or workspace. Who do I contact?
If you encounter any issues with an office or workspace, please report it to Administration and Finance at 1800ShermanAdmin@northwestern.edu. We will address the issue promptly.

Who can use an office versus a cubicle workspace?
Associate Vice Presidents, Directors, and Managers have the option to work in offices as they are most likely to have a greater need for privacy as they host meetings with staff. Cubicles are available for all staff.
Lockers and Storage
How do the combinations on the lockers work?
Please take a moment to watch a video with instructions on how to set the combination for your locker. Please remember that when you are done with your locker and want to lock it up, adhere to the following steps: 1) Close the door. 2) Turn the knob counterclockwise to the locked position. 3) Then, scramble the combination to keep it private.

Where can I store a long coat or suit jacket?
There are closets and coat racks available to all Northwestern IT staff. If you want to hang up a long coat or jacket, a large closet is available outside conference room 203 on the second floor.

Security
How does the keycard system work on the second floor?
For security purposes, alarms are activated on the second-floor entry doors. Please ensure you have your Wildcard to access the second floor from the elevator bank.
- Once a Wildcard is tapped, staff have ten seconds to push the door open before the alarm will re-arm, and it is necessary to re-tap.
- If the door is held open for more than 60 seconds, the alarm will sound until the door is closed.
- If someone touches the bar on the door without tapping their Wildcard, the alarm will briefly sound.
- If someone attempts to enter the door without tapping their Wildcard first, the alarm will sound for 60 seconds.
You also need to tap your Wildcard to access the first-floor entry doors and the second floor stairwell doors.
What action is required when the alarm sounds on the second floor?
The alarm is intended to alert staff when someone has entered the floor without using their Wildcard. Most times this will likely be a Northwestern IT staff member. As always, if you see someone on the floor you do not recognize, please follow all safety precautions and, if necessary, notify
University Police.
