Troubleshooting

The following are common issues and their resolutions.

  • You wish to remove a print queue, but the trashcan icon contains a diagonal line and the message “Your admin installed this printer. You can't uninstall it.”You can't uninstall it
    • For those in the faculty/staff role, the print queues BW and Color are installed by default and can't be removed. For those wishing for a more basic and controlled list of print queues, use Mobility Print instead.
  • Adding optional print queues displays a red Failed message.Install Failed
    • If you are on an ARM64 (Qualcomm CPU) Windows device, not all print queues have an ARM64 print driver and will fail to install. Print Deploy is unable to distinguish Windows CPU architecture and will display all printers with a Windows driver. The Library’s plotters are the most common printers where no ARM64 driver is available.
    • Reboot your computer to clear any potential issues.
    • It is possible a print queue is published to Print Deploy that you do not have access to. Contact your IT support to determine if this is true.
  • The Print Deploy client is slow to open and displays the message "We can’t find any printers for you."

We can't find printers for you.
    • Like other components of Northwestern Print, the Print Deploy client requires that your computer be connected to the Northwestern network to work. Ensure you are connected before opening the client window.
